Teachers and students participate in a variety of competitions for scientific and research scholarships.

A large number of internships and practical trainings is a characteristic feature of future tourists, geographers, biologists, ecologists training. They take practical lessons on geology, meteorology and small-scale climatology, soil geography, etc.

Distant practical training on Economic, Social and Physical Geography is of crucial importance. The routes of distant practical training course lie in the Ural and the Altai, the Lake of Baikal, the Republic of Karelia, Volga region, Siberia and other regions of Russia.

In 2011, with the assistance of the Rector of University the senior students with their major in Social-Cultural Service and Tourism have created an educational tourist center Tsarskoe Selo Campus – a hostel with the possibility to accommodate 50 people.
